Acceptable Use Policy
Questions about this document? Write to legal@layerport.app.
LayerPort exists to move websites their owners already have. This policy states the line between that and copying someone else's work, and it is enforceable: breaching it can end your account.
Permitted
- Migrating a website you own.
- Migrating a client's website with their documented permission.
- Migrating a site your organisation owns, where you are authorized to act for it.
- Archiving your own site before replacing it.
- Capturing a template or theme you hold a licence for, where that licence permits it.
Prohibited
You must not use LayerPort to:
- Copy paid templates or themes without the rights to do so. A published demo of a commercial template is not a licence to reproduce it.
- Reproduce commercial websites you have no rights to, in whole or in substantial part, including competitor sites, agency portfolios and client work that is not yours.
- Bypass licensing, paywalls, authentication or access controls, or capture material placed behind them.
- Redistribute protected assets without authorization — fonts, photography, illustration, video, icon sets or code whose licence does not travel with a copy.
- Impersonate a person or organisation, or produce a site intended to deceive visitors about its origin.
- Capture sites hosting unlawful material, or use output for unlawful purposes.
- Circumvent any source-verification, authorization, sensitive-route, plan-limit or entitlement guard that is active.
- Automate captures against third-party sites at a rate that burdens them.
How this is enforced
- Configurable technical proof. When the published product policy requires it, protected output or sensitive routes require a single-use token published to the source hostname. The operator may instead publish authorization-only mode; that choice is not presented as ownership verification.
- Authorization record. The safe default is a separate, unchecked-by-default project confirmation. The operator may use the current account-wide Terms and Acceptable Use acceptance instead; both remain your legal attestation, not our determination of ownership.
- Reports. Rights holders can report misuse through the takedown process.
What verification does not do
Verification proves technical control — that you can publish to the source. It cannot establish copyright ownership, and we do not claim it does. Someone with access to a site they do not own can pass verification; that is why authorization is confirmed separately and why misuse is a breach of this policy regardless of whether verification succeeded or the operator selected a no-proof mode.
